Ventura, Calif. — The City of Ventura invites residents, business leaders, and property owners to help shape the future of the Main Street Moves project by participating in a public visioning session. The event will be hosted on Saturday, May 31, from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at the Museum of Ventura County, located at 100 E. Main Street.
Attendees are invited to share ideas on topics such as streetscape design, public art, accessibility improvements, landscaping, events, and other enhancements that contribute to the downtown experience. The session, facilitated by RRM Design Group, will provide an inclusive and interactive process to gather diverse community input. Feedback collected will directly inform future plans for the area currently impacted by the Main Street closure.
“Main Street Moves has significantly changed how people experience downtown Ventura by prioritizing pedestrian access and outdoor activity,” said City Manager Bill Ayub. “This visioning session is an important opportunity for the community to provide input on how the space should evolve moving forward. We encourage everyone who lives, works, or visits downtown to share their ideas and help shape the future of this public space.”
Originally launched in June 2020 as a temporary response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Main Street Moves transformed several blocks of downtown Ventura into a pedestrian-focused space supporting outdoor dining, community activities, and local businesses. The program quickly became a signature part of downtown life, fostering a walkable, vibrant public environment.
To encourage participation, staff from the City’s Planning Division will also host an outreach booth at the nearby Downtown Ventura Farmer’s Market the morning of May 31. Staff will be available to answer questions and direct interested attendees to the Museum for the visioning session.
