Students for Eco-Education and Agriculture (SEEAG) is hosting a tour of McGrath Family Farm in Camarillo on Saturday, March 29 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The tour is part of SEEAG’s “Farm Day Every Day,” a series of free community events held throughout the year in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties.
Attendees will tour the farm grounds, learn about how produce and flowers grow year-round and see firsthand the day-to-day life of local farmers. Guests will also participate in a strawberry U-Pick opportunity and learn about Farmivore, a local farmer-owned food hub.
The McGrath family has been farming on the coast of Southern California for five generations. Leading the tour are Phil McGrath, Michael Roberts, and Arianna Bozzolo. Representatives from the Rodale Institute will also be part of the tour and talk about their work in organic research at the farm.
“Most of us drive right past McGrath Family Farm while on the freeway in Camarillo,” says Caitlin Paulus-Case, SEEAG executive director. “Here’s a chance to stop by and see how organic produce is grown.”
Free coffee, pastries and fruit will be provided. The tour is limited to 60 people and is suitable for all ages. Online ticket registration opens on Friday, March 21. To learn how to register, go to https://www.seeag.org/farm-day-every-day.
