Outreach Alliance of Ventura County Celebrates 75 Years
Community invited to special event on Sept. 21
VENTURA, California (Sept. 2, 2025) — Providing relief to local children and families in need since 1950, Outreach Alliance of Ventura County (formerly Assistance League® of Ventura County*) will commemorate its remarkable 75 years of dedicated philanthropic service with a special community event on Sunday, Sept. 21.
Local residents are invited to attend the fun and informative event taking place that day, from 2 to 4 p.m., at the OAVC Chapter House in downtown Ventura, at 913 E. Santa Clara St.
Starting with a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony by the Ventura Chamber of Commerce at 2 p.m., the celebration will continue with proclamations from local and state officials, giveaways, hors d’oeuvres and tours of the beautiful, sprawling facility. Local high school teens will provide background jazz music.
OAVC members and teens will be on hand to answer questions about the volunteer-driven nonprofit’s many and varied programs to aid local children, schools and families in need. Among other things, they’ll demonstrate how they fill the thousands of backpacks they supply each year to local students.
“We invite everyone to discover how OAVC has enriched the lives of children and adults throughout Ventura County since 1950,” officials stated.
The following are the group’s current philanthropic programs:
- B.U.F.F.Y. Bear, which provides comfort and reassurance to children experiencing traumatic events.
- Care Closet, which supplies necessities to children and families during times of emergency.
- Nancy R. Brandt, which provides support to sexual assault victims through Safe Harbor and the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office.
- Reading Club, which promotes a love of reading among elementary school students.
- Scholarships, which support students at Ventura College and California State University, Channel Islands.
- Supplies 4 Success, which supplies underserved students with the resources required to succeed in school.
- Teens Helping Teens, which builds community leaders through service by engaging teenage volunteers.
