Elizabeth Howell As New Commissioner
VENTURA, California - September 2024 - Ventura Port District is pleased to welcome recently appointed Ventura Port District Commissioner Elizabeth Howell at the July 9th City Council meeting. Howell was approved to join the Board of Port Commissioners for a 4-year term, after Commissioner Brian Brennan completed 8 years with the District.

Elizabeth Howell As New Commissioner
VENTURA, California - September 2024 - Ventura Port District is pleased to welcome recently appointed Ventura Port District Commissioner Elizabeth Howell at the July 9th City Council meeting. Howell was approved to join the Board of Port Commissioners for a 4-year term, after Commissioner Brian Brennan completed 8 years with the District.
“Being selected to the Ventura Port Commission is a real honor. It’s a place where I can combine my professional skills and experience with my love of boating and the water to contribute to a city and harbor that I cherish, said Howell.
The new Commissioner added, “Living in the harbor gives me a unique perspective of the importance of and interaction between the commercial, residential, and recreational users. Each element needs to be carefully considered when weighing decisions.”
After graduating from Vassar College, Howell spent more than 20 years as a professional manager and consultant in the corporate sector with time spent in finance, IT, and business process consulting, and spent another ten years as a private contractor in marketing, marketing consulting, and construction management. The long time Ventura resident also volunteered for the Santa Barbara County Economic Development Commission, which she chaired for two consecutive terms.
I would like to thank Commissioner Brennan for his service to Ventura Harbor and welcome Howell as the newest member of the Commission. The Board continually works to enhance business, leisure and lifestyle at Ventura Harbor, said General Manager Pendleton. The Board of Port Commissioners has established clear long-term goals and actionable objectives to make the harbor a better place for the benefit of the residents, business community, and visitors,” he added.
The Ventura Port District’s mission is to provide a safe harbor that is an inviting inclusive seaside destination and gateway to the Channel Islands National Park, with exceptional facilities for fishers, boaters, residents, and visitors. The District oversees the management and operations of the Ventura Harbor, a 274-acre multiple-use recreational and commercial fishing small-craft harbor, with the goal of providing a rewarding and vibrant coastal marine experience.
Ventura Harbor is home to a thriving visitor economy with hotels, restaurants, retail shops, commercial fishing harbor, boatyards, marinas, and many opportunities for families and travelers to enjoy the harbor’s amenities and coastal access both on and off the water.
